Gooday Nagar

A MODERN-DAY MALGUDI DAYS, WITH A SURREAL TWIST.

Gooday Nagar is the Malgudi of contemporary India-it is any and every city we know. Set in it are medieval English castles with unlikely stories of murder and magic, heaven-made marriages unmade on earth, lives disrupted by the Covid pandemic put back together by thieving monkeys, worlds mapped by vitiligo, disillusioned playwrights and their tryst with soanpapdi, classical singers' funerals, vacuum cleaner salesmen and armless ghosts, erstwhile revolutionaries and their fear of gobhi manchurian, waking up alone in a post- apocalyptic world only to discover everything is made of cake. The stories seek to unearth the ironies of modern life and rewrite its philosophy with humour and a storgic love of language.
